A new beginning

Dogs born in puppy mills often experience horrific living conditions and suffer from health conditions, abuse and disease. All pets deserve loving homes, and puppy mill survivors in particular need a fresh start and a forever home.

Sharon adopted three puppy mill survivors that had been rescued by Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL) in Phoenix. These dogs had never known love and were recovering from injuries sustained while living in cramped, unsanitary kennels.

Thanks to AAWL’s low-cost clinic, Sharon has been able to provide these dogs with the veterinary care they need. Currently, all three dogs are battling cancer, but because of Sharon’s devotion they have been able to experience what it feels like to be loved and cared for.

A $15,000 Veterinary Medical Equipment Grant from the Banfield Foundation® has allowed AAWL to expand their veterinary clinic and double their capacity to care for pets — without passing any of the costs on to pet owners like Sharon.
