Banfield Foundation® Impact Reports
As we look back on everything the Banfield Foundation has accomplished, we are struck by the fact that the people and pets whose lives have been changed by our grants ultimately have you — our Banfield Foundation donors and Banfield Pet Hospital® clients and associates — to thank.
While there is still much more work to accomplish, we know that we are more confident today than ever that no matter what the future holds, we can use our resources to change the lives of pets who need us — and the lives of the people who love and rely on them.

Through grant programs and partnerships, we fulfill our mission of making preventive care possible for the pets that need it most. As the COVID-19 pandemic stretched through another year, the Foundation doubled down on building new partnerships to broaden our reach. In 2021, grants provided much-needed resources, medical supplies, transportation, and disaster relief to help 1.4 million pets in need.

During a year that brought a range of unanticipated challenges, we are overcome with gratitude for the work we were collectively able to do. In 2020, we helped more than 475,000 pets receive access to veterinary care, shelter and disaster relief, including more than $500,000 in COVID-19 relief. We also celebrated our five-year anniversary, marking an incredible milestone of 5 million pets helped since we first began in 2015.

In just four years, we have accomplished so much together. We’ve continued to expand our grant programs, adding a new grant in 2019 designed to support people and pets seeking shelter together from domestic violence. We’ve provided life-changing and life-saving support to pets affected by natural and man-made disasters, and expanded our preventive care clinics, including a record breaking event in Franklin, Indiana, that provided essential wellness care to 273 vulnerable pets in a single day.

In 2018, we celebrated our third anniversary. That means three years of working to ensure every pet has access to quality veterinary care, temporary shelter or disaster relief. With the support of your generous donations, we have increased the number of pets helped by more than 300 percent this year. Since the foundation was launched we have provided 779 grants totaling more than $6 million. In all, we have impacted nearly 2 million pets across the country, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and Guam.

Because of you, we’ve been able to transport more abandoned or displaced pets to safety, increase the number of flea and tick prevention grants, and added a new grant to help qualifying organizations purchase veterinary equipment to serve disadvantaged or vulnerable pets.
