“The Dumb Friends League received $100,000 from the Banfield Foundation as part of the Dumb Friends League’s Building a Better Way Home capital campaign to expand and renovate the most heavily used areas of its Quebec Street Shelter.”

The Dumb Friends League received a generous gift of $100,000 from the Banfield Foundation® as part of the Dumb Friends League’s Building a Better Way Home capital campaign to expand and renovate the most heavily used areas of its Quebec Street Shelter.

Banfield Foundation’s donation will help expand, renovate and improve the veterinary services suite at the shelter, which provides routine and extensive medical and surgical care to many of the 20,000 homeless pets the Dumb Friends League cares for each year. The renovation will significantly improve the League’s ability to meet the changing needs of pets coming into the shelter, directly impacting the lives of homeless animals.

“We are thankful to the Banfield Foundation for supporting veterinary care for all animals,” said Dr. Apryl Steele, president and CEO of the Dumb Friends League. “Each year we receive more and more pets requiring specialized care and this gift will help us meet the demand to provide that care by creating an improved facility to better meet the veterinary needs of homeless pets.”

The upgraded facility will help the Dumb Friends League provide the best possible care and treatment for animals with complex medical conditions, help homeless pets find homes more quickly and position the League to help animals from partner organizations with fewer resources or from communities with limited adoption opportunities or prospects.

“Banfield Foundation believes all pets deserve access to the veterinary care they need, regardless of their circumstances,” said Kim Van Syoc, executive director of the Banfield Foundation. “Our hope is that the Dumb Friends League will always be a place where even the most vulnerable of pets receives the care they need and deserve.”
